An acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor that appears around the balance and hearing nerves, which connect the inner ear to the brain. The term schwannoma refers to a tumor formed from Schwann cells. These cells surround the nerves of the peripheral nervous system and normally insulate and support nerve function. Parotid Tumours can occur in nerves throughout the body, but in the head, they most commonly occur in the vestibular or vestibular nerve.
